Birdwatching -fulness
We all have our day jobs and we tend to get caught up with our daily routines. Most of these routines are fast paced and when we get time to wind down, most of the time the easiest thing to do is to grab our phone and scroll, or to catch up with any of the series that we have been streaming. Any season is great for taking a stroll around your neighborhood or going for a walk to a nearby park and do a walking meditation. This is a great way to practice mindfulness and experience every aspect of your surroundings. Birds are the best way to start drawing…

Meditation Myths
It is possible that you have heard the following things about meditation: That meditation is hard, that you have to stop all your thoughts in order to meditate, that you have to practice many years in order to receive any of it’s benefits, that it is not a comfortable practice and you have to convert into a monk in order to meditate, or that it is a religion. The truth is that we are always thinking and we cannot stop that process, nor do we want to! Thoughts are part of us and thinking is vital proof that we are alive. We have to remember that thoughts are part of…

Healthy Routines – Crocheting
I remember when I was a little kid and my grandmother tried to teach me how to knit. I don’t know if it was the fact that I was under 10 years old, or the fact that the thread kept on getting stuck and all I managed to create were a bunch of knots! I definitely enjoyed spending time with my grandma, but in the end she was the one that ended up finishing whatever I had started. My patience was short, but I liked to see the finished pieces. Everyone used to say how relaxing it was but I never was able to get that experience. It’s been years…

Ahh the Art of Mindfulness
We spent the 4th of July weekend with family and enjoying the outdoors. One of those days we went out to have lunch and then decided to take a stroll at one of the most picturesque towns in Vermont. As we were strolling down the street going in and out of all the little stores, we went into the cutest little book store. As always, I go in with the intention to just browse and then walk back out but the truth is that it is quite an impossible task, and I am ok with that fact. I always come out with at least a little bag! This time around…

Healthy Routines – Qi Gong
The whole of last week was filled with earlier calls than usual and a lot of team planning. My Qi Gong practice felt like what the doctor had ordered. My intention for the practice was to be present and to try get better with each step. I allowed myself to not be judgmental even if I got any of the steps wrong. I actually felt that there was more fluidity within me, also less tripping on my part while trying to follow the video!! There was a sense of wonder and a sense of flow within each movement, that allowed me to realize that all those movements are not isolated…

Not just another novel
When a friend recommends you a book, and it turns out to be so beautiful… My friend and meditation teacher colleague recommended this book and I loved it. I finished reading this book back in April, but I hadn’t had a chance to add it here. I had only read poems written by Rumi, but I didn’t know too much about his background. The story in the book takes place in the present time, but it manages to take you to a land and a time that I usually do not think about very much. I also learned about Rumi’s spiritual teacher, Shamsi Tabrizi. Now I’m going to have to…

The Main Branches of Yoga
The Main Branches of Yoga Last week as I was talking to a friend, she asked me about the different types of yoga are out there. As our conversation evolved into other topics, it made me realize that Yoga is such a broad topic, and knowing the different branches is a good segue into understanding it better. She wanted to know a little more about the topic, which made realize that it would be a good idea to write this post. Below is a classification that can be followed, but take note that this is not a comprehensive list. I am also not getting into a full description of each one of them.…
